REASON FOR
ALERT: In January 2001, Los Angeles District collected and analyzed a
sample of mango slices in vinegar from Malaysia (trans-shipped
through Hong Kong) which was found to contain undeclared saccharin
and cyclamate.
GUIDANCE: Detain without physical examination, product shipments and Firms
found on the attachment of this import alert.
***Refer to the guidance found in Import Alert #21-04 for dried
and dried and preserved fruits containing added sweeteners or
salt.***
Products from the firms on the attachment to this import alert may
be detained without physical examination for the problem
identified.
