Gallas, James S. James S. Gallas was appointed to the position of Magistrate Judge on July 1, 1991. In 1999 he was reappointed by the court to another eight-year term. Before his appointment he was the Clerk of Court, Northern District of Ohio from 1977 to 1991. James S. Gallas graduated from Bethany College, Bethany, West Virginia, where he earned a B.A. degree. He received his L.L.B. degree from Cleveland Marshall Law School, Cleveland State University. He served as an Assistant Attorney General specializing in Workers Compensation and in Inheritance Tax litigation until 1971 when he began private practice with the
firm of Miller, Heiser, Miller & Gallas, in Cleveland, Ohio. Magistrate Judge Gallas is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, American Judicature Society, Supreme Court Historical Society, Federal Bar Association, and Anthony J.
