Capitals Alliance
Capital cities play a vital role in establishing a country’s identity. They must function as a major urban center while also serving as a nation’s seat of government and ceremonial center.
Today’s capital cities face many timeless as well as modern-day demands. Through Capitals Alliance, capital city planners and public policy officials meet with professionals from sister cities around the world to exchange ideas and develop solutions to the challenges facing national capitals.
NCPC has participated in Capitals Alliance since the agency helped launch the forum in 2001, and we are proud to play a role in promoting sound planning and mutual understanding in an increasingly connected world.
NCPC hosted the most recent meeting of the Capitals Alliance in Washington, D.C. in September 2008. The Summary Report for the conference, Greening the World’s Capitals Capital Cities is now available. Learn what representatives of 15 capital cities from around the world are doing to help create a greener and more sustainable world. For more information, visit the Capitals Alliance website.
