Washington, D.C. – The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) published a final rule in the Federal Register on February 28, 2005, establishing the Trinity Lakes viticultural area in Trinity County, California. The viticultural area consists of approximately 96,000 acres surrounding Trinity and Lewiston Lakes and a portion of the Trinity River basin below Lewiston Dam. TTB designates viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase. This final rule becomes effective April 29, 2005.
