About DCSS

California’s Child Support Program works with parents and guardians to ensure children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support. Child support services are available to the general public through a network of 52 county and regional child support agencies that serve approximately 1.8 million children and families. Some of the services provided include locating a parent; establishing paternity; establishing, modifying and enforcing a court order for child support; and establishing, modifying and enforcing an order for health coverage.

Today, California’s child support program is using new technology, expanding the ability of child support staff to assist child support customers. Working collaboratively with local child support agencies, the courts, county health and human services entities, employers and various state and federal agencies, the Department of Child Support Services is using technology to make it easier and faster to locate individuals and collect child support – reducing delays for families.
