To view a webcast you should have a computer capable of playing sounds, a connection to the Internet, a 56Kbs speed modem or faster, and the proper software. These instructions will help you download and install the software you will need. Before you begin, you should print these instructions to use as a reference.

  1. Start by following the link to the "Free Video Player."
  2. You are now leaving HUD's home page, so you will see our standard disclaimer before you are forwarded to the web site where you will get the video player. The video player is called the "RealPlayer."
  3. For the videos on HUD's Home Page you will only need the free version of the RealPlayer. Please follow the link for the latest final release (see screenshot below).

  5. Enter information about your operating system and the type of computer you are using. These instructions are for an installation on a computer running Windows 95 with a Pentium processor. If you are using something other than this, the install will be similar but not exactly the same.
    1. Choose your operating system and the correct processor type. You should make the choices that are appropriate for you. If you are not sure of what to enter, consult with your computer services personnel or consult your computer manuals.
    2. Enter your name and email address (if you have one). On the right hand side there are some optional choices, such as language and connection. You don't have to choose anything there. The last choice to make is whether you would like to receive information from the makers of the RealPlayer.
    3. Click on the "Download Free RealPlayer" button to continue.

    4. [Image: Screenshot of the Realplayer.com download page]

  6. Download and launch the RealPlayer install executable.
  7. The installation process will ask you questions on a series of screens. These instructions will cover these quickly, but you should review each screen during your installation to ensure the installation is correct.
    1. The first screen contains some general information and some notes. Click on "Next" to continue.
    2. The second screen outlines the terms and conditions for using the software. The software is free, but you should be aware of these terms. Read the terms and click on "Accept" to acknowledge that you accept them and to continue.
    3. Enter your identifying information and click on "Next."
    4. Select your connection speed. If you are not sure what your connection speed is, ask your computer services personnel or your Internet service provider. Click on "Next" to continue.
    5. Some users may see an additional screen asking for more information about your Internet connection. If you see this screen and the information is correct, click on "Next."
    6. The installation software will ask you where you would like the software installed on your computer. Click on "Next" to accept their recommendation and continue.
    7. The software will list what Internet browsers it has found on your computer (e.g., Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator). If you want the software installed for all of your browsers, click on "Next" to continue.
    8. The software will ask you what your "default" or primary browser is. If you don't want to change it, click on "Next."
    9. The installation software now has all of the information it needs to complete the installation. Click on "Finish" to install the software.

  8. After a brief wait, you should see a screen that says your software was successfully installed. Click "Ok" to continue and you will see a registration screen. If you are still connected to the Internet you can fill it out and send it now. If not, click on "Remind Me Later."
  9. If you are still connected to the Internet, you will see the RealPlayer run a test to ensure that it is correctly installed. If everything is correct, you will see some video and hear some sound.

You can now watch streaming video broadcasts at HUD's web site and on other places on the world wide web.
