Jane Leche

Jane Leche is a public affairs specialist on the Recreation, Heritage, and Wilderness Resources staff for the Rocky Mountain Region. She grew up in the beautiful San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington state where she picked up the guitar from her dad. Music was always a part of family life and entertainment in the islands. Jane is self-taught and grew to love performing folk music, songs of the old west, and musical accompaniment in church.

Jane graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Parks Administration and from Cornish College of the Arts with a BFA in Theater. She began her career with the US Forest Service in 1987 on the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington in public relations. Helping people with questions about their national forests and grasslands gave her a great passion for working with people, especially in recreation, and the mission of the agency.

“As the only babe-in-the-band with the Fiddlin’ Foresters I enjoy performing, meeting new people, and nagging the boys.” Jane is a member of the Western Music Association and the Swallow Hill Music Association.
