Hiking
The Siuslaw National Forest has about 230 miles of trail. Many of our trails are low-elevation, easy-access trails located in a moderate climate for year-round hiking. These trails offer a chance to explore a variety of settings, from coastal forests to sand dunes. The trip planning guide lists our trails and includes trail descriptions and some generalized maps. These ratings are generally based on trail condition, steepness of
grades, gain and loss of elevation,
and the amount and kinds of natural barriers that must be traversed.
These ratings mean different things depending on if the trail was designed
for foot use, for horse use, for bike use or for wheelchair use.
