DEFENSE LOGISTICS CONTRACT MANAGEMENT COMMAND LONG ISLAND IN GARDEN CITY, NEW YORK, TO RECEIVE FEDERAL QUALITY AWARD

Washington, D.C. -- The Defense Logistics Contract Management Command Long Island, in Garden City, New York, will receive a Quality Achievement Award for improving customer service and savings tax dollars.

The award will be presented by U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Jim King during the 10th Annual National Conference on Federal Quality on:

Director King also will present Fort Benning with the Presidential Award for Quality, the governments top honor for quality improvement. The National Conference on Federal Quality convenes Wednesday, July 9 and adjourns Friday, July 11.

The Defense Contract Management Command Long Island of Garden City, New York, plays a vital role in supporting the Defense Departments national security mission. DCMC Long Islands pre-award, post-award and closeout contracting services ensure that the Commands customers receive timely delivery of high-quality, reasonably-priced contractor products. From 1993 to 1996, DCMC Long Islands quality programs and business acumen saved taxpayers more than $170 million on the purchase of systems and equipment. Providing services to more than 95 customers through 650 contractors, DCMC Long Island manages 8,200 contracts valued at nearly $6 billion and has earned top ranking within the Command.
