LOCALITY PAY EXTENDED TO NON-GENERAL SCHEDULE EMPLOYEES
Washington, D.C. -- The President's Pay Agent today notified Congress it is extending the General Schedule locality pay adjustments to all of the following government-wide categories of employees who work in one of the designated 28 local pay areas:
Not included are employees covered by the Executive Schedule, Federal Wage System employees who are paid under a separate locality pay system and employees in critical positions authorized under section 5377 of title 5 U.S.C.
The increases apply to employees whose duty stations lie within the 48 contiguous states. The same pay area boundaries which apply to the General Schedule employees apply to these employees as well.
The President's Pay Agent consists of the Secretary of Labor, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, and the Director of the office of Personnel Management. When acting on its own initiative, as it has in this instance, the Pay Agent is required to notify Congress no later than 30 days before an employee receives a comparability payment. A recent Executive Order delegated this authority to the Pay Agent.
Increases will be effective in January 1994 at the same time as those for the General Schedule.
