October 19, 1999: To ensure that every American has the opportunity to work to their full potential, President Clinton directed federal agencies to implement the first-ever plan and companion guide to assist them in the recruitment and promotion of people with disabilities. The President released the plan and guide, developed by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, during his Saturday radio address. [News Release]

Lachance today spoke about President Clinton and Vice President Gore’s support for creating strong partnerships between families, schools, community-based organizations and businesses to strengthen our children’s education. Lachance was the keynote speaker at the 8th Annual Back to School Family Institute celebration in Las Vegas, New Mexico. October 8, 1999: As part of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Hispanic Employment Initiative, OPM Director Janice Lachance today donated a Federal Job Information Touch Screen Computer Kiosk to the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute (TVI) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Joined by TVI President Michael J. Glennon, Lachance unveiled the touch screen computer kiosk during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Student Job Placement Office. [News Release]
