Robert Otilio Montoya is wanted for attempted murder and committing various other crimes of violence. On March 8, 2004, Montoya allegedly victimized two men who were cleaning a rental home in Evergreen, Colorado. Montoya allegedly shot the victims execution style while their hands were tied behind their backs. Both victims received life-threatening injuries. One victim was shot twice in the leg and twice in the torso. The other victim was found lying on the floor and reportedly bleeding from the chest area. There was also the appearance of gun shot wounds to the victim's face and arm. Although both victims survived this ordeal, they will continue to suffer great physical ailments.
On March 9, 2004, an arrest warrant was issued for Robert Otilio Montoya by the County Court, Jefferson County, Colorado, for attempted murder and various other crimes. Additionally, on April 14, 2004, Montoya was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, and a federal arrest warrant was issued in the United States District Court of Colorado.
