On September 24, 2008, Mayor Nutter formed an Advisory Task Force on Ethics and Campaign
Finance Reform (the “Task Force”) to perform a comprehensive review of the City’s campaign finance and ethics laws, hold a public hearing to receive information and recommendations from the public, and ultimately provide a report to the Mayor and the Council President setting forth recommendations regarding improvements, changes, and/or amendments to the existing campaign finance and ethics laws of the City. City Council will hold Budget Hearings between Wednesday, March 25 and Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Unprecedented opportunities have been created for citizens to view, hear and participate in the process. You can see or hear them as they occur, or view them as they are rebroadcast on Comcast Channel 64 at 8:00 p.m. the same day. Citizens may email testimony throughout the process to sharon.c.ortiz@phila.gov and it will be distributed to Councilmembers and become part of the record. On four days, the public may offer testimony in person, including a special Saturday session on May 9. Plans are also being finalized to add some hearings in neighborhoods.
