When it comes to celebrating Law Day and Juror Appreciation Month, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania is at the vanguard. Every year, judges at the courthouses in Philadelphia, Allentown, and Reading host more than 450 students from 50 high schools. Under the direction of District Court Judge Cynthia M. Rufe, whose chambers are in Philadelphia, more than 50 volunteer lawyers and 14 judges coach the students through simulations of trial court and appellate court arguments on a contemporary Supreme Court case that is relevant to teens.
