Administration
Finance and Operations staff at the Commission are responsible for financial management of all Commission resources and the daily functionality of the office and operations. In order to accomplish this mission, the Finance and Operations staff are committed to utilizing technological tools to increase efficiency. To that end, we implemented a new financial management system in the Fall of 2003 which enables digitized source documents to be attached to each transaction. Additionally, the Denali Commission served as one of three agencies that pilot-tested an internet-based US Treasury vendor payment system in 2003-04. To assist us in maintaining accountability for our work, the Federal Office created meaningful performance measures that focus on cash management and accountability.

The Finance and Operations staff utilizes the expertise of outside entities to assist us on achieving our mission. We have contracts with the Department of Veterans Affairs Financial Services Center for financial consulting, purchase cards and document management. The Department of Commerce handles all of our human resources and payroll. Mikunda Cottrell's Accounting division manages our bookkeeping. Arctic Information Technology conducts all of the customizations and maintains our financial management system. US Treasury has been an instrumental partner in setting up all of our payment and collection systems.
