Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments March 20, 2003 Dear Sir or Madam, I am a principle in a dietary supplement company in Oviedo Florida. This is my 8th year in this industry working for many of the most respected names in our industry before starting my own company. I am very concerned with the proposed changes to the DSHEA, which was created to protect our right to choose how we decide to supplement our diets and improve our health. The FDA has only begun to enact the DSHEA, which already can seize a dietary supplement if it presents an unreasonable or significant risk of illness or injury. It can also stop the sale of an entire class of dietary supplement. At what point is there enough authority? If the government enforces existing policies there is no need for even more legislation. Legislation which could severely hamper companies ability to provide new and innovative products to customers that demand new and improved products to improve their quality of life. It is my feeling that the DSHEA has improved access to information about dietary supplements while protecting against false claims, which is an invaluable service. I only hope that they had the manpower to watch even more closely, but we all know that more legislation is not going to improve that situation. Please take my comments into consideration and thank you for your time. Nick Worrell VP IDS 572 S. Econ Circle Suite 120 Oviedo, FL 32765
