Resources

Resources, for the purposes of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Integrated IT Investment & System Life Cycle Framework, refer only to human resources as opposed to material resources. There are three categories of resources in the Framework.

  1. Active Contributors
  2. Oversight and Review Groups
  3. Support Staff/Experts

Active Contributors are individuals or a group of individuals that add value to a project by contributing in some way to the day-to-day activities of the project or in the production of one or more project artifacts. For more information regarding Active Contributors and the specific roles defined in this category of resources, see the link in the
"Downloads" section below.

Oversight and Review Groups may be an individual, a group of individuals or an organization that performs an oversight, review, or advisory function for an identified Framework activity or established review checkpoint. For more information regarding the individuals, groups, and organizations, see the link in the "Downloads" section below.

Support Staff/Experts serve as a CMS reference point on key Framework topics.

One of the aspects of the role of the CMS Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is to establish and maintain the agency's Technical Reference Architecture (TRA).  The TRA is a key living document integral to the CMS ILC Framework and establishes standards necessary to ensure greater success with the lowest possible risk for new and current agency information technology investments.  The CTO's Technical Advisory Council (CTAC) is envisioned to encompass key senior technical advisors from around the agency to bring their perspectives on maintaining and shaping the TRA.  To review the CTAC Charter, see the link in the "Downloads" section below.
