THE HEASARC FITS WORKING GROUP The HEASARC FITS Working Group (HFWG) is the committee that deals with FITS related matters within the Office of Guest Investigator Programs (OGIP) at NASA/GSFC. Its charter is primarily to ensure that the FITS formats and keywords developed and used within the OGIP conform to current FITS standards and conventions, and to promote multimission FITS keyword and file format conventions, especially within the domain of high energy astrophysics. The HFWG met regularly from 1993 to 1995 to establish many data format conventions which have since become standards in the high energy astrophysics community. Since that time, the HFWG has met more infrequently, to deal with FITS related issues as they arise.
