May 8, 2009 — The American Red Cross continues to shelter and feed evacuees of the Jesusita Wildfire in Santa Barbara at two evacuation shelters: Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta and the Multi Activity Center on the UC Santa Barbara campus. All Southern Californians should be prepared for wildfires by preparing an emergency supplies kit.
The American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles continues to monitors the H1N1 (swine) flu both locally and nationally and encourages individuals and families to take this time to prepare for a larger outbreak.
May 8, 2009 --- Today, the Greater Los Angeles Red Cross joins more than 700 American Red Cross chapters and 185 Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies in celebrating World Red Cross Red Crescent Day. The Greater Los Angeles chapter works with Red Cross societies through its International Family Tracing Service, which is available to people who have become separated from loved ones during conflicts or disasters.
