FBI RECOGNIZED AS TOP GOVERNMENT EMPLOYER  BY READERS OF CAREERS AND THE DISABLED

Washington, D.C. – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was recently recognized as the top US Government “Employer of Choice” for people with disabilities. According to the Winter 2005/2006 issue of CAREERS and the disABLED magazine, the 15th Annual readers survey ranked the FBI as the top agency over 19 other government agencies listed when survey respondents provided names of public and private sector employers who provided reasonable accommodations and a positive working environment for people with disabilities. Readers also provided insight into their needs, expectations, and abilities and advised potential employer of ways to improve recruitment, hiring, and promotion for people with disabilities.

Donald E. Packham, Assistant Director for the Administrative Services Division stated: “To meet today’s national security mission, the FBI recognizes the importance of developing and training a cadre of personnel with a variety of backgrounds and skill sets. To support this personnel goal, the FBI has instituted various internship and student programs, as well as loan repayment plans and continuing academic programs. Each of these programs facilitates hiring the most accomplished graduates for the FBI’s professional staff, special agent, intelligence analyst, and linguist positions. The FBI mission demands an educated and diverse workplace trained in certain critical skills.”

The FBI is an equal opportunity employer. For further information about the FBI and about FBI employment opportunities, please visit www.fbi.gov and www.fbijobs.gov.
