KEVIN PERKINS APPOINTED ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE FBI'S FINANCE DIVISION

Washington D.C. - FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III today announced the appointment of Kevin L. Perkins to the position of Assistant Director in charge of the FBI's Finance Division. Mr. Perkins, a 20-year FBI veteran, most recently served as the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Baltimore Division.

As Assistant Director of Finance, Mr. Perkins will serve as the FBI's Chief Financial Officer and will oversee budget formulation and execution, procurement, financial audits, and other money matters. His experience as a Certified Public Accountant and his extensive investigative and management experience will be a great asset to the Finance Division and to the FBI as a whole.

After working with an international accounting firm, Mr. Perkins began his career as an FBI Special Agent in January 1986. He served in the Kansas City and Baltimore Divisions, working on a wide range of White Collar Crime investigations. At FBI Headquarters, he managed insurance fraud and money laundering matters, and served as Chief of the Inspection Division's Audit, Evaluation and Analysis Section and later as the Inspection Division's Deputy Assistant Director. In the Field, he served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia Division, in charge of the White Collar Crime and National Infrastructure Protection and Computer Intrusion Programs. He was appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Baltimore Division in January 2004.

In a message to FBI employees, Director Robert S. Mueller said, "The Finance Division will face some tough challenges in the near future as we absorb recent growth, handle budget issues relating to the establishment of the National Security Branch, and plan to address future threats. I am confident that Kevin has the leadership experience and expertise to address these challenges. I look forward to working with him in his new position."
