APPOINTMENT OF PATRICK G. FINDLAY AS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, FACILITIES AND LOGISTICS SERVICES DIVISION

FBI DirectorRobert S. Mueller III today announced the appointment of Patrick G. Findlay as Assistant Director in charge of the Facilities and Logistics Services Division (FLSD). In this position, Mr. Findlay will oversee logistics for FBI facilities worldwide, including FBI Headquarters, 56 field offices, more than 400 resident agency offices, and 65 Legal Attaché offices. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Findlay served as Chief, Facilities Management Section, from December 2002 to October 2005, and then as Acting Assistant Director of the new FLSD. 

Director Mueller said, “Patrick Findlay has 30 years of experience in leadership, construction, and facility management, and has overseen a combined Federal property portfolio of 78 million square feet during his career.  His leadership and military experience and engineering background make him uniquely suited to handle the logistical demands of a growing and fast-changing Bureau.”

Mr. Findlay grew up in Hinckley, NY, graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point, in 1975, and was commissioned into the Army Corps of Engineers.  His first assignment was as a Platoon Leader and then Assistant Division Engineer in the 82 nd Airborne Division.  He later served as Engineer Company Commander, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Operations Officer, 44th Engineer Battalion, Korea; and Assistant Professor, US Military Academy, West Point.

Mr. Findlay has served as the Director of Public Works for the following major military installations: 98 th Area Support Group and 1 st Infantry Division, Würzburg, Germany; Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; 2 nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea; and Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  He was also a senior leader in the Army Corps of Engineers’ New York, Baltimore, Jacksonville (Hurricane Andrew Recovery), and Pittsburgh Districts.  He retired from the Army in 2000.

Mr. Findlay earned four Masters degrees: from the American University, in Public Administration; from the Georgia Institute of Technology, in both Civil and Mechanical Engineering; and from the University of Missouri, in Engineering Management. He is also a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College, Army Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, and the Army’s Ranger, Airborne and Pathfinder Training. He has received two Legion of Merit awards, two Major Command DPW Executive of the Year awards, the DeFleury Medal, the USMA Class of 1926 Award, and the USMA Clifton Carroll Carter Award.
