WARREN T. BAMFORD REPORTS AS SAC IN LOS ANGELES
Bamford will lead the Counterterrorism Division of the Los Angeles Field Office
Washington, D.C. – Warren T. Bamford, a 20-year veteran of the FBI, has reported for duty as the Special Agent in-Charge (SAC) of the Counterterrorism Division of the FBI’s Los Angeles Office. Director Robert S. Mueller appointed him to this position in January, 2006. In his new role, SAC Bamford will lead a diverse team of professionals assigned to fighting domestic and international terrorism in one of the FBI’s largest offices. He is replacing Randy Parsons who retired from the FBI.
In his career Mr. Bamford has served in Washington, New Haven, and Baltimore Field Offices where he worked extensively in the violent crime program. His experience includes being a member of the Hostage Rescue Team (HRT), a SWAT team leader in New Haven, and as a supervisor of a Safe Streets Task Force in the Washington D.C. area.
Mr. Bamford has wide-ranging Counterterrorism experience as well having served as an Assistant Section Chief of the Domestic Terrorism Operations Section, as an Assistant Special Agent in-Charge (ASAC) in the FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) where he oversaw the FBI’s crisis management, negotiation, Bomb Data Center, Hazardous Devices Response, and Rapid Deployment Programs.
Most recently Mr. Bamford served as Section Chief of the Strategic Information and Operations Center (SIOC) at FBI Headquarters. In this capacity, he helped manage crisis and special events by ensuring the timely and effective flow of operational information between field offices, Headquarters executives, substantive units, and other government agencies.
Mr. Bamford graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1980. He was commissioned as a Marine Corps Officer after graduation and served until 1986, when he entered on duty as a Special Agent with the FBI.
