DIRECTOR ROBERT MUELLER ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

WASHINGTON, D.C. - FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III, announced the appointment of Robert J. Garrity, Jr., to the position of Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Business Process Reengineering Executive.

As Deputy CIO, Mr. Garrity is responsible for supporting the FBI's overall information technology efforts, and specifically leading the FBI's Business Process Reengineering project.

Chief Information Officer Zal Azmi said, "The FBI is in the midst of a major information technology (IT) modernization. Components of the FBI's IT systems need to be evaluated and upgraded to comply with the FBI's Enterprise Architecture, as well as support our mission. In conjunction with the IT modernization, it is necessary for the FBI to reengineer its business processes. I am confident that Mr. Garrity's experience will contribute greatly to the furtherance of our IT programs as well as the business reengineering project."
