Press Release

For Immediate Release
May 7, 2002

Washington D.C.
FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

Statement by FBI Director Robert S. Mueller:

"This is good teamwork by the Nebraska/Iowa Joint Terrorism Task Force, other law enforcement and all those alert citizens who provided information.

I appreciate the fine work of ATF, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and our state, county and municipal counterparts who assisted in this investigation. I especially want to thank the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Pershing County, Nevada, Sheriff's Office who effected this arrest without incident as well as all those first responders who aided those injured by the bombs and helped render safe the devices that did not explode.

Citizen vigilance coupled with effective law enforcement is a powerful combination in the fight against terrorism."
