For Immediate Release
January 11, 2002

Washington D.C.
FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Federal Bureau of Investigation today placed Christian Michael Longo on its "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" list. He is being sought for the murders of his wife and three small children in Oregon in December of 2001. Longo should be considered armed, extremely dangerous, and an escape risk.

On December 19, 2001, the body of a four-year-old boy was found floating several feet from shore in the Lint Slough, a waterway off the Pacific Ocean, in Waldport, Oregon. On December 22, divers searching the same area found the body of his three-year-old sister. Then, on December 27, divers found the bodies of the children's mother and two-year-old sister.

On December 28, 2001, law enforcement authorities in Lincoln County, Oregon, charged Christian Michael Longo with multiple counts of aggravated murder in the death of his family. That same day, a federal arrest warrant was issued in the United States District Court, District of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, charging Longo with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Longo is described as a white male, 6'0" to 6'1", 150 to 195 pounds, with reddish blond hair and blue eyes. He was born in Iowa on January 23, 1974, and uses the aliases Christopher Longo, Chris Longo, Christian M. Longo, Jason Joseph Fortner, and John Thomas Christopher. Longo is a diabetic and is dependent on insulin. He has surgical scars on his back.

Christian Michael Longo is the 469th person to be placed on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" list, which began in 1950. Since then, 440 fugitives have been apprehended or located, 142 of them as a result of citizen cooperation.

A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for any information leading directly to the arrest of Christian Michael Longo. Individuals with information concerning Christian Michael Longo should take no action themselves, but instead immediately contact the nearest office of the FBI, or local law enforcement agency. For any possible sighting outside the United States, contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Further information about Christian Michael Longo, including his wanted poster, is available on the FBI's Internet Home Page. The FBI's Internet Home Page address is: http://www.fbi.gov.
