1. Kansas City: Islamic Charity Charged With Terrorist Financing; Former US Congressman Charged With Money Laundering

The Islamic American Relief Agency (IARA) and several of its former officers were charged with engaging in prohibited financial transactions. Also charged in the case was former U.S. Congressman Mark Deli Siljander. Full Story

2. Boston: Officers of Muslim Charity Convicted

Three officers - a Libyan national and two Lebanese nationals - of Care International, Inc., a Muslim charity, were convicted of conspiracy to defraud the U.S. Government. Full Story

3. Charlotte: FBI Announces Tipline in Hunt for Murder Suspect

The FBI, in conjunction with other federal, state and local agencies, announced a new tipline in the search for Corporal Cesar Armando Laurean, USMC, a suspect in the homicide investigation of Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach. Full Story

John Harrell, the leader and organizer of a fraudulent money-raising enterprise, pled guilty to fraud and money laundering charges. Full Story

Brian K. Goolden, a practicing attorney, pled guilty to defrauding a blind, 90 year old client. Full Story

6. Birmingham: US Government Employee Pleads Guilty to Procurement Fraud

Michael L. Cantrell, former director of the Integrated Capabilities Management Directorate of the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command, pled guilty to receiving $1.6 million in a procurement fraud scheme. Full Story

7. Newark: Mayor Indicted on Extortion Charge

City of Passaic Mayor Samuel Rivera was indicted on charges of accepting cash in exchange for his influence on local government contracts. Full Story

8. Birmingham: 325 Year Sentence for Production of Child Pornography

Gary Steven Vasiloff was sentenced to 325 years imprisonment for the production of child pornography. Full Story

9. Tampa: Family Charged With Enslaving Illegal Immigrants

Cesar, Geovanni, Jose, Villhina, Ismael and Michael Navarrete and Antonia Zuniga Vargas were charged with enslaving Mexican and Guatemalan illegal immigrants and forcing them into agricultural labor. Full Story

10. San Francisco: 14 Moving Company Owners/Employees Charged With Extortion and Fraud

Fourteen individuals in California and Florida were indicted for their roles in defrauding and extorting fees from hundreds of residential moving customers throughout the United States. Full Story
