Gerald
Rose Named New York Division's Counterintelligence SAC
Gerald
Rose has been named Special Agent in Charge (SAC) for Counterintelligence
in the FBI's New York Division. Director Robert S. Mueller,
III appointed him to this position to replace SAC Richard
Deslauriers, who was recently appointed Deputy Assistant
Director of the Counterintelligence Division at FBI Headquarters.
Most recently, Mr. Rose served as Chief of the Global Section
of the Counterintelligence Division at FBI Headquarters.
Mr.
Rose entered on duty as a special agent with the FBI in
September 1985. Upon completion of training at the FBI Academy
in Quantico, Virginia, he was assigned to criminal and counterintelligence
matters in the Kansas City Division. He was transferred
to the Washington field office in May 1991, where he was
also assigned to criminal and counterintelligence matters.
In August 1994, he was assigned to the Special Detail Group
to perform dignitary protection for Attorney General Janet
Reno. He was appointed Assistant Legal Attaché to
the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa, Canada, in April 1996. While
in Ottawa, Mr. Rose was responsible for organized crime
and counterintelligence matters, working closely with our
national and international law enforcement and intelligence
community partners. In August 1998, he was appointed Supervisory
Special Agent (SSA) for the New York Division's Asian organized
crime squad, responsible for the supervision of special
agents and detectives of the New York City Police Department
involved in investigations of violent Asian gangs and human
trafficking.
In
July 2001, Mr. Rose was appointed to a temporary duty position
as a Team Leader/Assistant Inspector in the Inspection Division
at FBI Headquarters. Upon return to the New York Division
in August 2002, he was assigned as the Coordinating SSA
for the Organized Crime Branch. In May 2003, he was promoted
to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of Counterintelligence
in the New York Division. He returned to FBI Headquarters
as Chief of the Global Section of the Counterintelligence
Division in September 2006. In that position, Mr. Rose served
as the National Program Manager for all Global Section counterintelligence
matters, with managerial oversight for units that handle
high-priority counterintelligence matters.
Mr.
Rose, who was raised in Schenectady, New York, earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the State University
of New York at Buffalo in 1981, and a Juris Doctorate degree
from the University of California, Hastings College of Law
in 1984. Before joining the FBI, Mr. Rose served as Assistant
Counsel to the New York State Legislature. Mr. Rose received
the FBI Director's Award for Outstanding Counterintelligence
Investigation in 2006.
