FBI Identifies Fifth Body Recovered in Iraq

On Friday, March 28, the FBI identified the fifth body recovered by U.S. authorities in Iraq as Bert Nussbaumer of Austria.

Nussbaumer was employed by Crescent Security Group (CSG) at the time of his kidnapping on November 16, 2006.

The FBI has previously identified the remains of four Americans: Ronald J. Withrow of JPI Worldwide, and John Roy Young, Paul Christopher Johnson-Reuben, and Joshua Mark Munns of CSG.

The FBI’s Office of Victim Assistance has been in contact with the victims’ families since the men were kidnapped. The families were immediately notified once positive identification was made.

The remains of the five victims are now in the United States and will be returned to their families. Mr. Nussbaumer’s remains will be returned to his family in Austria.
