Three Additional Bodies Recovered in Iraq
U.S. authorities in Iraq have recovered the remains of three additional individuals.
The following victims, both employed by Crescent Security Group (CSG) at the time of their kidnapping on November 16, 2006, have been identified:
-
Paul Christopher Johnson-Reuben of Buffalo, Minnesota
-
Joshua Mark Munns of Redding, California
A third victim’s remains are being tested to confirm his identity. The three were recovered after the two previously identified by the FBI, John Roy Young of CSG and Ronald J. Withrow of JPI Worldwide. The FBI’s Office of Victim Assistance has been in contact with the victims’ families since the men were kidnapped, and were immediately notified of the recovery. The remains of all five have been returned to the U.S. and will be repatriated with their families.
The FBI has been fully engaged since the men were kidnapped. All available resources have been utilized in this investigation.
Following the kidnapping, the FBI assigned personnel at the Washington field office to open a case. The Legal Attaché office in Baghdad was on the ground to assist with the investigation. In each hometown, members of the FBI’s Office of Victim Assistance met regularly with the families to keep them up to date with all available information.
The men and women of the FBI wish to express our deepest sympathy to the victims’ families. We understand that this is a very difficult time for all the families involved, and the FBI will continue to provide any assistance we can.
“The investigation is ongoing, and the FBI, working with our partners in the Hostage Working Group in Iraq, will continue to aggressively investigate every available lead in order to identify, apprehend, and bring to justice those responsible for these horrific criminal acts,” said Supervisory Special Agent Richard Kolko, Washington, D.C.
