Thomas Browne Named SAC of Little Rock

Thomas J. Browne has been named Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI’s Little Rock Division. Director Robert S. Mueller, III appointed him to this position to replace SAC William C. Temple, who will retire in May 2008. Most recently, Mr. Browne served as the Section Chief of the Intelligence, N-DEx, and Global Operations Section at the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division in Clarksburg, West Virginia. From December 2007 to March 2008, Mr. Browne was also the Acting Deputy Assistant Director for the Policy, Administration, and Liaison Branch at the CJIS Division.

Mr. Browne entered on duty as a special agent with the FBI in August 1985. Upon completion of training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, he was assigned to the Las Vegas Division where he investigated white collar crime matters. He was later transferred to the Newark Division to investigate organized crime and white collar crime matters.

In June 1996, Mr. Browne was promoted to FBI Headquarters as a supervisor in the Policy Planning and Analysis Unit. He later served as a supervisor in the Economic Crimes Unit and Money Laundering Unit in the Financial Crimes Section within the Criminal Investigative Division. In July 1998, he was selected to supervise the Johnson City and Greeneville resident agencies in the Knoxville Division.

In November 2004, Mr. Browne was designated as the Assistant Special in Charge (ASAC) of the Little Rock Division. In this capacity, he had oversight responsibility for all investigative programs within the division. Due to the creation of a second ASAC position for the Little Rock Division in August of 2005, he assumed primary responsibility for the National Security Programs and Support Services Section for the Little Rock Division.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Browne graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 1985, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
