Anthony Bladen Named Assistant Director of the FBI’s Resource Planning Office

Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Anthony M. Bladen as the Assistant Director of the FBI’s Resource Planning Office. Mr. Bladen previously served as the Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI’s Resource Planning Office since its establishment in December 2006.

Mr. Bladen entered on duty at the FBI as a file clerk on August 8, 1982. Since that time Mr. Bladen has also served as a Fingerprint Specialist, Management and Program Analyst, Supervisory Management and Program Analyst, Chief of the Financial Analysis Unit, FBI Budget Officer, and most recently, Deputy Assistant Director of the Resource Planning Office.

The Resource Planning Office is responsible for strategic planning, resource allocation and management, policy coordination, business process re-engineering, and performance management. Since its inception, the Resource Planning Office has yielded tremendous results for the FBI including major business practice changes and performance management improvements. Key initiatives include implementation of the Strategy Performance Sessions between FBIHQ and field offices; resolution of the “Hollow Work Years;” implementation of the Corporate Resource Planning Board; creation and deployment of a Bureauwide Strategic Management System, based on the Balance Scorecard; Compass enhancement; development of automated Field Office Resource Allocations Plans; integration of the Strategy Management System into core FBI processes such as inspections, finance, budget, and performance appraisals; establishment of the Corporate Policy Office and deployment of Division Corporate Policy Officers; enhancement of performance management efforts; centralization of multi-office administrative functions to achieve organization efficiencies; consolidation of a temporary duty assignment authority into a methodology that will increase organizational efficiency; and the deployment of the Enterprise Workflow Environment, which enables the development of re-engineered business processes.

In 2006, Mr. Bladen earned a Masters of Public Administration from the American University.
