CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE - JEWELRY STORE BURGLARIES

THE DETAILS SURROUNDING THE CRIME

Law enforcement authorities are seeking information regarding a criminal ring responsible for burglarizing up to 50 jewelry stores in at least 10 states across the East Coast since April 2003. The losses resulting from these burglaries are more than $5.1 million in jewelry and watches. The primary targets have been national, mall-based jewelry stores.

These stores are generally burglarized after normal business hours. The subjects usually cut through roll down security gates to enter the store, then pry open display cases to remove targeted items. These items include men's gold jewelry such as chains and Movado watches. The subjects typically wear hooded sweatshirts and are described as possibly African-American or Hispanic males. Witnesses have observed teams of four to five individuals committing the crime.

Investigators are asking the public's help in identifying the individuals responsible for these crimes.

REWARD

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of members of the criminal enterprise responsible for the series of burglaries.
