Mr. Chris Duque is a retired detective of the Honolulu Police Department with nearly 30 years of public service. During those years with the police department, Mr. Duque earned for himself the reputation of being Hawaii’s premier “cyber cop,” and he is a nationally recognized expert on a variety of computer crimes.
In the 1990s, Mr. Duque was among the first law enforcement officers to address the emerging trend of crime facilitated by computers. During those early years of the World Wide Web, investigators knew little about “identity theft,” “computer intrusions,” “phishing schemes,” and the “online solicitation of a minor.” At the dawn of the Internet, Duque worked tirelessly in developing successful investigative strategies to address these new and emerging crime problems.
Mr. Duque is deeply committed to Internet safety. Over the years, he has educated countless audiences about the ethical and legal use of the Internet. At the Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Duque serves as a cyber crime and computer forensic consultant, and he serves as a special consultant to i-SAFE, a non-profit foundation that has educated millions of students across the country on Internet safety.
He is a founding member and the current president of the Honolulu InfraGard Member Alliance, a non-profit association dedicated to promoting the robust exchange of information about threats to our national infrastructure. Mr. Duque is also a member of the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists, the High Tech Crime Investigators Association and the High Tech Crime Consortium. Mr. Duque frequently consults with members of these organizations and travels nationwide to consult and speak on a wide array of cyber security matters. |
