Bernhard Richert, “Berney,” has over thirty years of experience in economic development, and his career spans service at local, regional and headquarters offices with agencies in two US Departments. He and his staff oversee the local Economic Development Administration office for Alaska, providing job-creating grants for construction, planning and technical assistance to public bodies in their quest for economic development.
The Alaska Field Office has been a strong advocate for rural and Alaska Native job creation and training. Docks and harbor improvements, fisheries-related projects, vocational training and higher education investments, public tourism facilities and other key infrastructure have been assisted communities from the North Slope to the Aleutians and from the Bering Sea to the southern tip of the Southeast Panhandle.
His degrees are from the University of Texas (Austin). Berney and his wife have two children.
