2007 National Training Priorities

The National Training Priority area identified for FY 2007 is: providing training to Title X providers on improving clinic efficiency in an effort to address increasing costs of health care without sacrificing quality. Each regional training center (RTC) will be awarded an additional supplement as part of the total FY 2007 award. These funds are restricted pending approval of a proposal that addresses how the funds will be utilized for training of Title X providers on strategies to improve clinic efficiency while maintaining quality family planning services.

It is expected that each general training and technical assistance grantee will continue, as a part of the basic training activities, to provide training that will assist Title X service providers in:

  1. Addressing clinical training needs of Title X providers and collaborating with the National Family Planning Clinical Training Center;
  2. Encouraging family participation in the decision of minors to seek family planning services and providing counseling to minors on how to resist attempts to coerce minors into sexual activities, and complying with State laws requiring the notification or reporting of child abuse, child molestation, sexual abuse, rape, or incest; and
  3. Integrating HIV prevention activities into Title X services;

To the extent possible, training grantees are encouraged to coordinate training activities with other HHS training programs, such as HRSA AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETCs), the CDC Prevention Training Centers (PTCs), Infant Adoption Awareness Training Programs (IAATPs), and other appropriate training entities.
