Karen JohnsonMs. Karen Johnson is from the Bristol Bay region of Alaska's great southwest! Growing up in Dillingham, she has fond memories of a very simple and old-fashioned way of life. Karen's personal connection and understanding of rural Alaska is one of the characteristics that make her a strong asset to the Denali Commission team.

Karen's knowledge and experience of rural workforce successes and challenges are a significant advantage to the Denali Commission's Training Program. In Dillingham, Karen worked for the State of Alaska to help improve employment and training options for fishing families all over Bristol Bay during the commercial fishing crash in 1997. She was also the Director of Employment and Training for Bristol Bay's CDQ Group and the Deputy Director of Community Health Services for Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation. Karen is currently finishing her BA in Business Administration and Management at Alaska Pacific University.

Karen enjoys spending time with her husband, three daughters, one son and a grandson who all keep her really busy. In her spare time she loves a good movie, antiquing, board games with family or friends and projects around the house.
