Eric A. Marchegiani, P.E. - U.S. Department of Agruculture - Rural Development Print E-mail

Born in North Adams, Mass in 1952 and grew up in a small rural town (Readsboro) in southern Vermont.  He attended the University of Vermont and obtained a BS degree in Civil Engineering in 1975.  In the Spring of 1975, he arrived in Alaska and began employment with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers on Elmendorf Air Force Base. After about 3 years of service with the Corp, he returned to graduate school at Colorado State University (CSU) in September of 1978 and completed his MS Degree in December 1979.

After returning to Alaska in January 1980, he resumed employment with the Corp of Engineers until August 1981. At that time Mr. Marchegiani began employment with the Alaska Power Authority and continued for almost 20 years. During that timeframe he worked on a number of hydroelectric projects both in the planning, permitting, design and construction stages. Some of those include; Susitna Hydroelectric Project, Grant Lake Hydroelectric Project, Bradley Lake Hydroelectric Project, Chakachamna Hydroelectric Project, Four Dam Pool, and a number of others.

In late 2000, he left State Government (Alaska Energy Authority) and worked for a private firm for about 2.5 years and then was hired by Alaska Village Electric Cooperative(AVEC) in August of 2003.  He worked as a Project Development Engineer on bulk fuel tank farms, power plant installations, heat recovery installations, and wind turbine installations. A major portion of the work was funded by the Denali Commission grant funding along with match funding that came directly from the AVEC Cooperative.

As of May 2006, he began as the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development, General Field Representative (GFR) Electrical for the State of Alaska, Marshall Islands, and Hawaii. He works with the various electrical cooperatives that have borrowed funds from USDA RUS or have the desire to look into financing their distribution, transmission or generation.

Mr. Marchegiani is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and a registered professional engineer(Civil) in Alaska and four other States.
