DOCUMENTATION

The GES DISC provides an extensive online library of documents related to ocean color data, oceanographic researching pertaining to ocean color data, and mission-specific information. The main documentation page is primarily relevant to the Coastal Zone Color Scanner (CZCS), Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS), Ocean Color and Temperature Scanner (OCTS), and the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS). Other pages that are linked below provide information from the GES DISC or external sites that is useful for the full understanding and usage of ocean color data.

Ocean Color Scientific Documentation

The Ocean Color Scientific Documentation page is the primary page for documentation regarding GES DISC ocean color data. This page provides a link to a compendium of scientific publication references from the CZCS and post-CZCS mission periods (1978-1986 and 1986-1996 respectively), up to the beginning of the SeaWiFS mission period.

MODIS Documentation

The MODIS Website contains documents and ancillary information pertaining to the MODIS observing missions. This page includes links to Algorithm Theoretical Basis Documents (ATBDs).

SeaWiFS Technical Memoranda

Online copies in PDF of the full SeaWiFS Technical Memorandum series. These pages provide links to compendium of SeaWiFS-related scientific publication references.
