Assistive Technology

EPA employees with disabilities may find a number of software and hardware products helpful in easing their access to electronic and information resources. This section describes the Assistive Technology Center (ATC), how assistive technology products can help persons with disabilities, the available software and hardware products, and their vendors.

Assistive technology. Any item, piece of equipment, or system, whether acquired commercially, modified, or customized, that is commonly used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. (ยง 1194.4)

Assistive Technology Center (ATC)
EPA's Assistive Technology Center was established by the Office Of Environmental Information (OEI) with special funding provided through the Office Human Resources' (OHR) Human Capital Innovation Fund. The ATC opened on October 1st, 2003 and is one of thirteen federal Assistive Technology Centers in the Washington, DC area.
