Each of the 12 IHS Areas has an Area Diabetes Consultant (ADC) who provides diabetes training, orientation, and monitoring activities. The Tribal Leaders Diabetes Committee (TLDC) includes Tribal Leaders, representatives from national American Indian and Alaska Native organizations, and a federal representative. This committee advises and provides recommendations to IHS regarding issues related to the Special Diabetes Program for Indians (SDPI) grant program and on diabetes and related chronic conditions. The committee also oversees Tribal consultation activities related to the Special Diabetes Program for Indians.
