Daily HealthBeat TipHad it with diets? From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this is HHS HealthBeat. Every good habit starts with a good intention but many end there. Diets, for instance. Getting eating and weight under control is a good intention. But diets well, people who go on unbalanced, quick-fix eating plans often wind up going off them and regaining whatever weight they lost. Weight control is still a good idea, though. So how to do it? Carefully. That's the idea behind Dietary Guidelines for Americans, created jointly by the departments of Health and Human Services and Agriculture. Nutrition expert Kim Stitzel worked on the Guidelines for HHS: "The Dietary Guidelines are not a diet; they are a lifestyle. They are something people can incorporate into their lives by making simple choices and simple steps such as incorporating fruits and vegetables or whole grains each day."
