XRBCAT - X-Ray Binaries Catalog

HEASARC
Archive

Overview

XRBCAT is a catalog of X-ray binaries, based on the Van Paradijs (1996) compilation, and updated by Nick White to include all the new (mostly transient) systems discovered since then. The information in XRBCAT is basic and does not attempt to be complete. It includes the name of the source, the position, the pulse or orbital period if one is known, the object class, a flux (maximum, and if available a minimum) and an optical V magnitude (if available). To reference XRBCAT please put an acknowledgement

"This paper utilized the HEASARC XRBCAT X-ray Binary catalog".

Since it is a very time consuming task to keep track of all the new sources and discoveries, there may be incomplete or missing sources. Please report such instances to white@lheapop.gsfc.nasa.gov.

The catalog was last updated on April 22, 1998.

Parameters

Name
The name of the source.

RA
The Right Ascension of the source.

Dec
The Declination of the source.

LII
The galactic longitude of the source.

BII
The galactic latitude of the source.

MII
The galactic longitude of the source given as +/- 180 degrees.

Porb
The orbital period in days.

Vmax
V-magnitude maximum or reported value

Vmin
V-magnitude minimum (if known or relevant).

Fxmax
The flux maximum or reported value in microJy.

   1 microJy = 0.242*10**-11 erg cm**-2 s**-1 kev**-1 ~ 1 mCrab

Fxmin
The flux minimum in microJy (if known or relevant).

   1 microJy = 0.242*10**-11 erg cm**-2 s**-1 kev**-1 ~ 1 mCrab

Flag
If `flag` is an `*`, then the minimum flux given is an upper bound.

BV_Color
The B-V color if known or relevant.

UB_Color
The U-B color if known or relevant.

Pulse_Per
Pulse Period (secs)

Class
BROWSE classification.
