CDFN2MSOI2 - Chandra Deep Field North Updated Optical & IR Catalog |
HEASARC Archive |
This table also contains updated optical and infrared photometric data for the X-ray sources in the CDF-N. Typical photometric uncertainties are given in Section 3.6 of the reference paper (Trouille et al. 2008).
The X-ray information for the sources detected in the CDF-N 2-megasecond exposure which was published in Alexander et al. (2003, AJ, 126, 539) is available as the HEASARC CHANDFN2MS table, while the earlier catalog which listed information about optical and infrared counterparts (Barger et al. 2003, AJ, 126, 632) is available as the HEASARC CDFN2MSOID table.

increasing J2000.0 Right Ascension, taken from Alexander et al. (2003, AJ,
126, 539).
Name
The CDF-N source designation, based on the X-ray source
identification number, using the prefix recommended by the Dictionary of
Nomenclature of Celestial Objects.
RA
The Right Ascension of the optical/NIR counterpart to the CDF-N X-ray
source in the selected equinox. This was given in J2000.0 decimal degrees to
an accuracy of 0.001 degrees (3.6 arcsec) in the original table.
Dec
The Declination of the optical/NIR counterpart to the CDF-N X-ray
source in the selected equinox. This was given in J2000.0 decimal degrees to
an accuracy of 0.001 degrees (3.6 arcsec) in the original table.
LII

X-ray source.
BII

X-ray source.
Umag
The U-band AB magnitude of the optical/NIR counterpart to the CDF-N
X-ray source taken from Barger et al. (2003, AJ, 126, 632). A null value for
the magnitude means that the source was not detected in this band (2-sigma
significance). A negative value for the magnitude means that,
at the location of the source in this band, the flux measured was negative.
The authors converted the absolute value of this flux to a magnitude and then
placed a negative sign in front to signal the negative flux measurement.
This was done by the authors so that these values could be used for
statistical purposes.
Bmag
The B-band AB magnitude of the optical/NIR counterpart to the CDF-N
X-ray source taken from Barger et al. (2003, AJ, 126, 632). A null value for
the magnitude means that the source was not detected in this band (2-sigma
significance). A negative value for the magnitude means that,
at the location of the source in this band, the flux measured was negative.
The authors converted the absolute value of this flux to a magnitude and then
placed a negative sign in front to signal the negative flux measurement.
This was done by the authors so that these values could be used for
statistical purposes.
Vmag
The V-band AB magnitude of the optical/NIR counterpart to the CDF-N
X-ray source taken from Barger et al. (2003, AJ, 126, 632). A null value for
the magnitude means that the source was not detected in this band (2-sigma
significance). A negative value for the magnitude means that,
at the location of the source in this band, the flux measured was negative.
The authors converted the absolute value of this flux to a magnitude and then
placed a negative sign in front to signal the negative flux measurement.
This was done by the authors so that these values could be used for
statistical purposes.
Rmag
The R-band AB magnitude of the optical/NIR counterpart to the CDF-N
X-ray source taken from Barger et al. (2003, AJ, 126, 632). A null value for
the magnitude means that the source was not detected in this band (2-sigma
significance). A negative value for the magnitude means that,
at the location of the source in this band, the flux measured was negative.
The authors converted the absolute value of this flux to a magnitude and then
placed a negative sign in front to signal the negative flux measurement.
This was done by the authors so that these values could be used for
statistical purposes.
Imag
The I-band AB magnitude of the optical/NIR counterpart to the CDF-N
X-ray source taken from Barger et al. (2003, AJ, 126, 632). A null value for
the magnitude means that the source was not detected in this band (2-sigma
significance). A negative value for the magnitude means that,
at the location of the source in this band, the flux measured was negative.
The authors converted the absolute value of this flux to a magnitude and then
placed a negative sign in front to signal the negative flux measurement.
This was done by the authors so that these values could be used for
statistical purposes.
Zmag
The z-prime (z') band AB magnitude of the optical/NIR counterpart to
the CDF-N X-ray source taken from Barger et al. (2003, AJ, 126, 632).
A null value for the magnitude means that the source was not detected in
this band (2-sigma significance). A negative value for the magnitude means
that at the location of the source in this band, the flux measured was
negative. The authors converted the absolute value of this flux to a magnitude
and then placed a negative sign in front to signal the negative flux
measurement. This was done by the authors so that these values could be
used for statistical purposes.
Jmag
The new J-band AB magnitude of the optical/NIR counterpart to the CDF-N
X-ray source. A null value for the magnitude means that the source was not
detected in this band (2-sigma significance).
Hmag
The new H-band AB magnitude of the optical/NIR counterpart to the CDF-N
X-ray source. A null value for the magnitude means that the source was not
detected in this band (2-sigma significance).
Kmag
The new K_s band AB magnitude of the optical/NIR counterpart to the
CDF-N X-ray source. A null value for the magnitude means that the source was
not detected in this band (2-sigma significance).
IRAC_3p6_um_Mag
The Spitzer IRAC 3.6-um band AB magnitude of the IR
counterpart to the CDF-N X-ray source. A null value for the magnitude means
that the source was not detected in this band (2-sigma significance).
A negative value for the magnitude means that at the location of the source in
this band, the flux measured was negative. The authors converted the absolute
value of this flux to a magnitude and then placed a negative sign in front to
signal the negative flux measurement. This was done by the authors so that
these values could be used for statistical purposes.
MIPS_24_um_Mag
The Spitzer MIPS 24-um band AB magnitude of the IR
counterpart to the CDF-N X-ray source. A null value for the magnitude means
that the source was not detected in this band (2-sigma significance).
Redshift
The updated spectroscopic redshift z_spec of the optical/IR
counterpart to the CDF-N X-ray source. A value of z_spec > 0 and a
corresponding value of broad_type = 10 indicates that the spectroscopic
redshift is from the literature without a corresponding spectrum.
A value of zspec = 0 and a corresponding
value of broad_type = -99 indicates that the source was spectroscopically
observed but that neither the redshift nor the class could be identified.
A value of zspec = -1 and a corresponding broad_type = -1 indicates that
the source was not yet spectroscopically observed. A value of zspec = -2 and
a corresponding broad_type = -2 indicates that the source is a star.
Ref_Redshift
This flag parameter is set to the following values in order to
indicate their sources:
a = Barger et al. (2003, AJ, 126, 632) b = Swinbank et al. (2004, ApJ, 617, 64) c = Chapman et al. (2005, ApJ, 622, 772) d = Reddy et al. (2006, ApJ, 653, 1004)All other spectroscopic redshifts were presented in the reference paper for this table, Trouille et al. (2008), for the first time.
Phot_Redshift
The photometric redshift z_phot of the optical/IR counterpart
to the CDF-N X-ray source obtained using the authors' template-fitting
technique. A value of -3 means that the source has a spectroscopic redshift,
while a value of -99 that the source has neither a spectroscopic nor
a photometric redshift.
Broad_Type
A code for the authors' optical spectral classification of the
counterpart to the CDF-N X-ray source. The astrophysical values of this
parameter are 0 for absorbers, 1 for star formers, 3 for high-excitation
sources, and 4 for broad-line AGNs. The meaning of the value of 10 and the
negative values of this parameter is explained above (see the redshift
parameter description).
