Health – Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program

A change in your employment status may affect your FEHB eligibility. Please see your Human Resources Office at your agency. For more information on employee eligibility including the special provisions for part-time or intermittent employment, temporary appointment, and specifically named positions, please refer to the FEHB handbook.

Dental or Vision – Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP)

You are eligible to enroll in FEDVIP during the annual Federal Benefits Open Season or within 60 days of becoming newly hired or newly eligible, if you are a Federal or U.S. Postal Service employee eligible for the Federal Employees Health Benefit (FEHB) coverage (whether or not enrolled). If you are not sure about your eligibility, please check with your Human Resources Office.

Life – Federal Employees' Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) Program

If you enter into a newly eligible position, you automatically get Basic Insurance, and you have 31 days to elect optional coverage. If you already are in an eligible position and you change agencies without a break in service, your coverage continues (this is not an opportunity to elect more coverage). If you enter nonpay status, you have free coverage for 12 months. If you separate, you have 31 days free extension of coverage with the right to convert.

Flexible Spending Accounts – Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS)

Call FSAFEDS at 1-877-FSAFEDS (372-3337), TTY: 1-800-952-0450 for additional information.

Long Term Care – Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP)

This will not affect your coverage. Your coverage will remain in effect as long as you continue to pay premiums. If you are not enrolled and wish to apply, you must be a member of an eligible group.
