Long Term Care

Can I continue coverage I currently have under another non-Federal plan?

Answer:

You cannot convert individual coverage you currently have to coverage under the Federal program. This is true even if your current coverage is offered by the same carrier that provides coverage under the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP).

To participate in the FLTCIP, you still need to apply for coverage and be approved. Your premiums will be determined by your age at the time of application and the options you select. The FLTCIP is medically underwritten, which means you will be asked questions about your medical history. Certain medical conditions or combination of conditions will prevent some from being approved for coverage. If you choose to apply for FLTCIP coverage, do not cancel any other long term care insurance coverage you have until your new FLTCIP coverage goes into effect.
