The Export Control and Interagency Liaison Division supports all four NASA Mission Directorates through the administration of the NASA Export Control Program, the NASA J-1 Exchange Researcher Program, and the oversight of certain NASA foreign travel. In addition, this division coordinates Agency-level policy interactions with U.S. Executive Branch departments and agencies, and is the principal Agency liaison with the National Security Council, the Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Department of State, the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Commerce.
The Export Control and Interagency Liaison Division manages the NASA Export Control Program, ensuring compliance with U.S. law and regulations, providing policy guidance, and representing the Agency on interagency working groups dealing with international technology transfer, nonproliferation, and export control. It provides the NASA liaison with other U.S. Government agencies on a wide spectrum of areas, including national security policy, national space policy, interagency agreements and personnel exchange agreements. Activities also include the NASA International Exchange Visitor Program (J-1 visa) and the coordination of international travel of NASA personnel.
Division activities are agency-wide and support the Office of the Administrator and all Mission Directorates and Mission Support Offices.
