Architecture-Based Real-Time Control Environment for Advanced
Spacecraft
Abstract:
This Small Business Innovation Research Phase I project proposes
the development of an architecture-based real-time control
environment to provide the control theory researchers with a
convenient laboratory environment for the test,
- simulation; evaluation, and improvement of theoretical results in
real-time. It will also provide the control engineers with a
powerful tool for the application of control theory to real
physical systems. The environment will be developed using the
Domain-Specific Software Architecture (DSSA) approach. The
accomplishments of this Phase I project will not only result in a
software environment for real-time control, but will also produce
a reusable software repository of control algorithm components,
device drivers components and timer service components suitable for
the DSSA program. The real-time control software environment will
provide a user-friendly interface with the functions of windows
display, mouse cursor selection, graphical modeling and on-line
parameter tunning, and a real-time interface with the functions of
code generation, cross compilation and assembly, downloading,
tracing and debugging, and will be tested and demonstrated on the
prototype for real-time control/simulation hardware developed by
AGNC at the end of Phase I. Finally, it will be used to smoothly
transfer advanced control methods, such as robust control,
nonlinear control, and intelligent control, to the autonomy and
precision control for future spacecraft.
The development will directly lead to a software product for
commercial markets. That is a real-time control software
environment which will be widely used in civil and military control
systems or will be used to test and demonstrate the performance of
new theoretical results for control systems.
