Abram Claude, Jr.
Private Citizen

Abram Claude, Jr, was appointed by President George W. Bush to the Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled (Committee) in October 2008, as a private citizen representing the interests of people who are blind.

Claude has been a leading practitioner in the executive recruiting business for over 20 years and has focused his practice on financial services, not for profit organizations and the recruitment of board members. His practice is a reflection of his professional and volunteer life before entering the search business where he was successful as a commercial banker, an alternative equity investor and counselor to high net worth individuals and as an investment banker.

Through out his career he has devoted himself to serving a number of important educational, social service, religious and community organizations.  With his deep and broad professional experience in the financial community and his substantial experience as a volunteer with numerous not for profit organizations, he brings an unusual degree of senior, hands-on, practical experience to the sectors he serves as a recruiter. His reputation as an outstanding performer professionally and as a volunteer was recognized by The Association of Executive Search Consultants when he was awarded the coveted Eleanor H. Raynolds award for “excellence in executive search combined with a strong commitment to volunteerism”.

As a volunteer Claude has been a board member of, among others, National Industries for the Blind (Chairman), Westminster School (Chairman), East Woods School (Chairman), Royal Maid Industries for the Blind (Chairman), Diocesan Investment Trust, Episcopal Diocese of New York (President), Bedford Association (President), Lenox Hill Hospital (Executive and Finance Committees), U.S. Committee for Refugees (Treasurer), Phipps Houses (Executive Committee), Phipps Community Development Committee (Founding Trustee), and St. Matthew’s Church (Vestryman, Treasurer and Lay Reader).

Abe is a graduate of Yale University and lives in North Salem, NY
