FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- February 3rd 2009 – TF Processors of Elk Grove Village IL is voluntarily recalling 6712 Double Fudge Peanut Butter Brownie, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. This product was manufactured using peanut butter recalled by Peanut Corporation of American because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
This product was distributed by US Foodservice and Decadent Desserts in the Greater Chicagoland Area. The following is a list of the product name and lot numbers of the product affected by this recall. The product is a ½ sheet peanut butter brownie packaged one per case with the label indicating the lot number on the side of the package.

No known illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product. The recall was initiated after it was determined that Peanut Corporation of America has recalled the peanut butter used to manufacture this product. TF Processors Inc has informed FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.
